Goodbye for Now - Maryknoll College Reunion in Las Vegas

Goodbye for Now - Maryknoll College '68 Mini-reunion in Las Vegas

Here are some pictures of South Point Casino and Spa in Las Vegas. It's a good place to stay in Las Vegas - new, clean, reasonably priced. The only downside, which may not be such a negative thing, is that it's not on the Strip, which means you have to drive to get to the main drag of Las Vegas. It's a straight route on Las Vegas Blvd. and not difficult at all.

Going back to the group of Maryknollers who spent time in Las Vegas together, some goodbyes were said on Monday night, but there remained a group that had brunch together. Tina Heiter had been hankering for Filipino food, and we ate at Kusina ni Lorraine, Regency Plaza, 3507 S. Maryland Pkwy #1, in Las Vegas. This is an unpretentious buffet-style Filipino restaurant in a small mall. Kusina ni Lorraine has an adjoining Filipino market.

You get the picture: market to the left, no-frills buffet restaurant to the right. But all our Filipino comfort dishes were there:  kare-kare, dinuguan, tuyo, mongo, fish, adobo, chicken, even fried chicken tina-e. Oh, my God --- the cholesterol we took in, but this was just an indulgence that isn't an everyday thing.

This last photo shows us after the drive from Las Vegas to Topanga Canyon, California, where Judy, Marissa, and Lauren unwind with a glass of wine.

This is the last update regarding the Maryknoll reunion of some College 1968 graduates in Las Vegas.

To those who attended as well as to those who couldn't, I share this favorite blessing:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
